Broomgrove Infant School Wivenhoe rated good by Ofsted

Broomgrove Infant School, in Wivenhoe, has been rated good by Ofsted.

The school was inspected over two days last month and was named good in all provisions.

The two-person inspection team had praise for its “well-behaved” pupils, “broad and ambitious curriculum”, “high-quality support” and more.

The report reads: “This is a very happy school.

“Everyone works hard to make sure pupils are well looked after. Parents value this support.

“The school is a place where pupils can thrive.”

It continues: “Pupils experience a broad curriculum and high-quality pastoral support. These help them learn and achieve well.

“This is especially true for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). These pupils learn happily alongside their peers.

“Inclusion is at the heart of the school – everyone matters and pupils feel safe and cared for.”

Inspectors described the school as a “calm and harmonious place” where “pupils behave well and show good manners at all times”.

Broomgrove was also praised for its curriculum, describing it as “broad” and “ambitious”.

“The school has prioritised the early reading programme,” it said.

“The curriculum has been carefully thought through to meet the needs of this school and clearly sets out what pupils learn step by step.”

The school was further praised for its relationship with parents as well as the support received from leaders and governors.

The report added: “The school works hard to build positive relationships with all parents.

“Pupils’ many different needs are accurately identified.

“The support in place from well-trained adults is very closely monitored.

“Leaders and governors work closely together. They all want the very best for the school.

“Governors regularly check on staff and how they are feeling.

“Staff are proud to work at the school and appreciate the support from leaders.”

Safeguarding at the school was described as “effective”.

Headteacher Alison Grigg said: “We are delighted the school has been rated good and attribute this success to the hard work and dedication of the entire school community.”
