A PAEDO who breached a sexual harm prevention order one day after it was imposed by downloading illegal images has said he "couldn’t help it", despite a voice "screaming" at him to not do it.

Trevor Day, of Old Woodyard, Sible Hedingham, downloaded anime images of naked females as young as ten.

He also used the Kik and Whisper messaging apps using the names ‘broken’ and ‘trout_gold’, despite being banned from doing so by the courts.

In January, Day appeared before magistrates in Colchester to admit 11 breaches of a sexual harm prevention order, two charges of failing to comply with notification requirements and one charge of possessing a prohibited image of a child.

The offences dated back to 2022.

Chelmsford Crown Court heard on Friday how Day, 51, told probation officers a voice was “screaming” at him not to download the images, but he couldn’t help himself.

Natalie Bird, prosecuting, read a transcript of a conversation Day had with probation officers after re-offending.

Day is alleged to have said: “I know I shouldn’t have, but I just couldn’t help it.

“I’m not going to say there wasn’t a voice screaming at me in the back of my head but I just couldn’t help it – I’m just a lot more broken than I would like to admit, but I just couldn’t help myself.

“I’m bang to rights.”

Shahnawaz Khan, mitigating, said Day was fully aware he was going to receive a jail term.

He said: “He appreciates he is looking at a custodial sentence – he has been given chances and he has not taken advantage of those chances.

“He runs a 3D design business and is a sole trader – as a result of his actions and persistent offending, all that hard work will go up in smoke.”

Recorder William Clegg KC told day he has “a bad rep”.

He said: “In January 2022 you were before the magistrates’ court for breaching a sexual harm prevention order; you were sentenced to 14 weeks custody suspended for two years.

“The next day you were accessing on the internet prohibited images; within 24 hours of having received that suspended sentence you were like offences and sadly that offending has continued.”

Day was sentenced to two years in prison.
