A BOSS of a Waltham Abbey Garden centre has revealed his bid to change its planning licence and to build disabled parking spaces on site.

The Northfields Nursery and Garden Centre, in Sewardstone Road, has applied to change its class after its Director Alan Harker has sent a planning application to Epping Forest District Council.

The application, if successful, will change its planning permission category from horticultural nursery to a garden centre which sits in category use class E.

Class E is a planning category which covers shops, offices, gyms, and other forms of commercial buildings.

A horticultural nursery is used solely for growing plants that are then to be sold at later point.

However, Northfields Nursery and Garden Centre has been operating as a garden centre since the 1970s, so the business is looking for a retrospective amendment to its current licence.

The site covers 54803.40sq metres and in the application form it has revealed that the garden centre is looking to build three separate disabled parking spaces on site, alongside its current existing 45 other parking spaces.

Northfields Nursery and Garden Centre is open Monday to Sunday, 9am till 5pm.

A decision is yet to be made on this bid.
