A NEW film about a painter famed for his Dedham landscapes is in the works - and a Colchester councillor has had a part to play in it coming to fruition.
Once Upon A Time in Suffolk will be based on a series of fairytale-inspired stories featuring John Constable and his best friend and fellow painter John Dunthorne.
The movie, which is being filmed across East Anglia and produced by crew members from the region, will see the pair go on a fairytale journey after winning a commission.
They will travel from East Bergholt to the banks of the River Orwell where they will find a lady with long blonde hair living in a tower.
Crews are planning to film in the summer with the aim of releasing the movie in locals cinemas in 2025.
The project is being produced by FILM Suffolk, a grassroots organisation dedicated to encouraging and developing regional filmmaking.
Colchester councillor Darius Laws will also be involved in the production of the feature-length film.
Mr Laws said: “I saw a call to arms asking for writers to come up with local stories to showcase our amazing landscape.
"I adore living in the heart of the Dedham Vale National Landscape and what better story to tell than our nation's favourite landscape painter.”
