A JAPANESE restaurant has moved one step closer to opening its doors in Colchester.

The city council has approved blueprints submitted for illuminated signs to be installed at Joyato Sushi and Grill, which is taking on a unit at the Northern Gateway Leisure Park.

Restaurant bosses have been told the signage must comply with guidelines published by the Institution of Lighting Professionals after Myland Community Council raised concerns about light pollution.

The restaurant’s website says it will offer a mix of “all-you-can-eat sushi and succulent Japanese grill”.

The development is near junction 28 of the A12.
