A POWER CUT which left at least 20 Colchester homes in darkness was finally resolved, nearly 15 hours after engineers first arrived.
UK Power Networks engineers were called to Mile End Road at around 8am yesterday, where they found the outage had been caused by a fault on an underground electricity cable.
Despite originally planning to restore power to the neighbourhood by 9.30pm, delays meant the disruption lasted until 10.54pm.
UK Power Networks has apologised for the prolonged delay.
A spokesman said: "A fault occurred on an underground electricity cable affecting the local area.
"We're sorry for any disruption this may have caused you."
