A HIGH-END Japanese restaurant is relocating to Colchester High Street from its existing site just around the corner.

Koryu, currently in Osborne Street, has announced it is moving into the now-empty unit at 118 High Street.

The vacant site was previously home the Mangiare Pasta Bar, which has closed despite only opening within the last year.

Koryu, meanwhile, opened to diners in August 2021 and has since built a reputation for serving up a quality modern dining experience.

The restaurant is run using the izakaya style, designed for sharing, which sees food brought to the table steadily throughout the meal.

The menu includes norimaki, uramaki, Japanese soft steamed buns, nigiri sushi, sashimi, tempura, Katsu, Donburi and noodles.

A spokesman for Koryu said: “We are moving but not too far.

“Exciting things are happening at Koryu, and we want to share some important news with you.

“Loyalty from customers like you has fuelled continued growth, making a move to a new facility necessary.

“Thank you for your continued support throughout and we are very overwhelmed. We will shortly greet you in a new location.”
