AN up-and-coming band praised by BBC Introducing has revealed its latest single and teased a summer of live shows.

Greebo, an indie rock four-piece from Earls Colne, released their lively new single, Reminiscing, last Friday.

The band is made up of Ash Condon on guitar and vocals, Harry Munson on bass, Charles Masterton on guitar and synths, and Matthew Solomon on drums, and the single is an exhilarating mix of Britpop guitars and 80s synths.

Ash says the single was inspired by current times and the likes of Colchester’s Blur, and Depeche Mode.

He said: “It’s my reflection of modern times, how the wealthy make you feel like things are not too bad and that you shouldn't look back and compare to previous eras.

“It’s just me being frustrated with what's occurring in the world, and I know it's not just me feeling it.

The song was written and recorded in Ash’s caravan, then mixed by Micky Healm.

Grebo formed in 2019 and went through an assortment of members during the pandemic until the final line-up was cemented.

Since then, the band has been featured by BBC Radio One, nominated by Radio Wigwam for band of the year, and has played many gigs in north Essex and beyond.

On Wednesday, the band earned a spot supporting the popular rising Liverpool rock group Courting, at Voodoo Daddy's Showroom in Norwich.

Ash says one of the band’s highlights was playing a popular Colchester venue.

He said: “The highlight has got to be playing to 300 people at Colchester Arts Centre.

“It was probably the best night of my life.

“There was so much energy - it was great fun.

“We would also say getting onto BBC Radio One with our song Mind Games last year was a highlight.”

Since forming, Greebo have played across the country but say “nothing beats” playing to a local crowd.

They often perform at Colchester's Queen Street Brewhouse, which has helped them learn how to put on a live show.

The band is now ready to bring its “chaotic, high-energy” performances to more venues.

Ash said: “We’ve got a string of singles ready to go.

“We have a tour planned for June and plenty of gigs booked in.

“We’re just trying to keep it going and grow.”
