FLOODING is “likely to continue” across several areas of north and mid Essex, the Environment Agency has warned.
Two flood alerts for the area have been issued, warning of “some minor flooding to low-lying lands, roads and riverside areas” throughout today.
It says: “We are currently seeing higher river levels than normal in response to the recent rainfall.”
Issuing an alert for areas near the River Colne, the Environment Agency said the areas most at risk are around Great Yeldham, Castle Hedingham, Sible Hedingham, Halstead, White Colne, Chappel, Fordstreet, and the Toppesfield Brook, and in Colchester between the A12 and East Street.

“The forecast is for mainly dry conditions today and tomorrow,” it added.
“Take care on riverside footpaths, and don't put yourself in unnecessary danger. We are monitoring the situation.”
