A LITTERBUG has been ordered to pay more than £400 in costs for dropping a cigarette outside a discount supermarket.

Arthur Balogh, of Winnock Road, Colchester, was accused of dropping a cigarette outside the Aldi store in Magdalen Street in May last year, but he was caught in the act.

The case was then brought before the courts, and magistrates considered the offence in Balogh’s absence last month.

Finding him guilty of the offence, officials fined Balogh £200 and ordered him to pay a further £230 in costs, meaning he must pay an overall charge of £430.
