BATMAN. Wonder Woman. And… you? A much-loved hospice is on the lookout for heroes to take part in a themed fun run.

St Helena Hospice’s Hero Run will see both novice and seasoned runners take their pick from one of three circuits around the cycle track at Colchester Sports Park.

Runners can choose between a two-kilometre family-friendly route and the more challenging 5k and 10k races, and while dressing up as a superhero is encouraged, the theme of the event is “your hero”.

So whether you’re inspired by nurses, doctors, film characters, or sports personalities, you could help raise much-needed funds to help the Colchester-based charity to continue supporting patients and families in need.

Partnerships fundraising manager Marcus Poston said: “Not all heroes wear capes but anyone taking part in Hero Run is a hero to St Helena.

“Novice and seasoned runners of all ages are very welcome to join in and experience running on the largest all-weather closed road cycle circuit in the east of England.

“So whether you’re looking for a fun and active day out with the family, fancy challenging yourself, want to get competitive with friends, or run as a team for a loved one, this is your chance.”
