A POPULAR Italian restaurant in Wivenhoe which closed earlier this month is set to reopen inside a nearby pub.

Valentinos, previously based in High Street, shut its doors on January, 9 after it was bosses revealed they were “unable to continue trading”.

The beloved eatery, however, is now set to reopen at the Black Buoy pub on February 1.

Valentinos at Black Buoy will serve its “famous and ever popular” garlic breads, home-made by co-owner Stephen Purdy, as well as pizzas, pastas, traditional Italian mains, ‘chickens of wine’ and a specials board “with new and much-loved dishes”.

It will operate from 6pm between Wednesdays and Saturdays, with last orders at 9pm.

The Black Buoy pub - a Grade II listed building possibly dating back to the late 16th century on Black Buoy Hill - revamped its food selection last April.

The pub now serves its own food from 8am to 3pm every day and closes at 11pm on Friday and Saturday and at 10pm every other day.

People can book online at the Black Buoy or call 01206 822425 to reserve a table.
