A CHART-TOPPING musician has announced his eagerly-awaited new album - which was recorded in Colchester - will be released later this year.

Frank Turner, who has a studio in Mersea, will unveil his 10th LP, entitled Undefeated, on May 3.

In celebration of the news, Frank has just revealed new single Do One, a catchy message of defiance with power-pop and pop-punk sounds.

His new album follows his first UK Number 1 record, FTHC, and is a result of his decision to step away from the major label world to re-embrace the liberation of working as an independent artist.

Frank said: “Do One is the last song I wrote for the new album, and the first song on that album, as well as the first single.

"It’s a summation of what I’m trying to say with this record, a record about survival and defiance, but also one with a sense of fun and self-deprecation.

"19 years into my solo career, I’m still standing up and putting out some of my best work. It feels good.”

The album references Frank's past influences such as Black Flag Counting Crows, Descendents and The Pogues.

It was written and produced entirely by Frank in his Mersea home studio.

The songs also feature his live band members Ben Lloyd on guitar, Tarrant Anderson on bass, Callum Green on the drums, and Matt Nasir on the piano.
