A WOMAN who is charged with multiple drugs offences was unable to attend a court hearing... because she is suffering from a parasitic worm, a court has heard.

Hayley Wilson, of Talbot Walk, London, had been due to appear in Ipswich Crown Court on Tuesday to face four drug offences which are alleged to have taken place in Colchester in August 2021.

The allegations included supplying heroin, supplying crack cocaine, possessing heroin with the intent to supply, and possessing crack cocaine with the intent to supply.

But the court heard how Wilson, 31, had been unwell and was unable to attend court because of a medical condition.

Graham Blower, mitigating, told the court Wilson was required to go to A&E because of a parasitic worm and was at risk of contracting sepsis if the issue went untreated.

His honour Judge Richard Kelly said a medical note had to be issued in writing so her absence from court could be justified.

He said: “That note, in writing, must set out the prognosis as well if she is deemed not fit to attend court."

The plea hearing has been relisted at Ipswich Crown Court for Tuesday, January 30.
