TRAFFIC across Colchester is slow this morning due to various roadworks.

AA Traffic is showing very heavy congestion all over the city, particularly in key roads such as Ipswich Road, Cowdray Avenue, Lexden Road, Northern Approach Road, North Station Road and more.

A lane is closed for construction works on the A134 Northern Approach Road at Dickenson Road, which is causing heavy tailbacks.

Meanwhile, temporary traffic lights due to water main work is causing slow traffic on Drury Road both ways between St Helena Road and Wavell Avenue.

There are reports of delays increasing on A1232 Ipswich Road southbound between A1232 and A133 St Andrew's Avenue.

For those looking to travel on the major A roads, there are delays of about eight minutes and delays increasing on the A1232 Northbound between A137 East Street and A120 (Crown interchange).

On the A12, there is the usual slow traffic in the ongoing construction area, which is causing issues on the London-bound carriageway at Junction 26 (Eight Ash Green / Tollgate interchange).

Further along the same carriageway, there are long delays just before Junction 22 for Witham North.

This is due to an “obstruction on the road”.
