Police are appealing for witnesses after a car hit a tree and damaged a nearby parked car in an early hours crash in Burnham.

Officers were called to Maldon Road, close to the junction of Green Lane at around 1.20am on Sunday, January 14, following reports of a crash. 

The car involved crashed into a tree, causing damage to a nearby parked car, police say. 

A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of driving whilst over the drink drive limit, failure to report a road traffic collision, failure to stop at the scene of a road traffic collision and leaving a vehicle in a dangerous position. 

He has since been bailed whilst enquiries continue.
