HIGH-POWERED electric vehicle (EV) chargers have been installed at a shopping complex in Colchester.

Three new charging points, provided by Osprey Charging, have been put in place at Colchester Retail Park, in Sheepen Road.

The equipment from one of the UK’s largest EV charging networks is compatible with every EV currently on the market.

They are capable of adding up to 100 miles of range in just 35 minutes of charge.

The chargers are ideally positioned for drivers who want to top up their vehicle's charge whilst shopping, grabbing a coffee, or exercising at the retail park.

The payment process is designed to be user-friendly, accepting both contactless bank cards and Apple or Google Pay.

There is also the option to make payments through the Osprey App, via a RFID card or by using all major third-party payment methods including fleet cards.

The chargers contribute to local and national environmental efforts, improving local air quality, reducing noise pollution and supporting the UK's wider decarbonisation goals.

Osprey Charging CEO, Ian Johnston, said: "The electric transition is well underway and we’re here to provide a reliable and rapid public charging service for drivers, from Cornwall to the Scottish Highlands.

"The new charging site at Colchester Retail Park will form a vital part of the re-charging network that will enable the decarbonisation of transport in the UK."

Osprey has funded this installation, operation and oversees maintenance of the chargers.

Osprey is in the top three UK Chargepoint network operators for both personal safety and accessibility and are consistently scored highly for safety and accessibility by independent inspection body ChargeSafe.
