A NEW show home has been unveiled at a controversial development site on Mersea Island.

City and Country has launched its latest show home at the new Sanderling Reach development.

Located off Seaview Avenue. in West Mersea, the project prides itself on being “surrounded by natural beauty, just a few minutes’ walk from the majestic beachfront.”

The new show home, called The Stamford, is a four-bedroom home spanning 2,618 square feet.

It has a large open-plan kitchen, dining and family space as well as separate dining and living rooms.

The living room has a fireplace and is set out to provide “the perfect haven for relaxing.”

The show home is set across three floors, with the developers promising all homes have been built to maximise energy savings to reduce the carbon output of each property.

The unveiling of the show home comes after a planning application was approved in May 2020 for the demolition of 43 Seaview Avenue and the building of up to 101 homes.

The plans proved extremely controversial with residents, who submitted a total of 502 objections.

Despite this, Colchester Council approved the plans and the building commenced.

Shelley West, group sales and marketing director at City and Country said: “Sanderling Reach has proven popular with a diverse range of buyers, including first-time buyers and downsizers purchasing our two and three-bedroom homes, to families upsizing into larger four and five-bedroom homes and putting down roots in the coastal town.

“Named one of the best places to live in the country by The Times, buyers are drawn to this charming corner of Essex, the island is within an hour’s drive of the M25 and has surprisingly fast train links to London from Colchester, making it possible to commute into the capital, despite the island’s tide.

“West Mersea has a vibrant community filled to the brim with activities to get involved with including water sports sessions and holiday courses for the local children and not forgetting dog-friendly beaches all-year round.

“With a strong local property market and steady house price growth, buyers can be confident that they are investing wisely in a buoyant area.”
