A CITY centre road is set to shut for ten weeks.

Culver Street East in Colchester will close from its junction with St Nicholas Street for a distance of approximately 40m in a westerly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on February 12 and will last for 70 days.

It is required for the safety of the public and workforce while reconstruction works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

No alternative route is available.

Various other roads in Colchester are also set for closure in the coming weeks.

Later this month, Hazelton Road will be shutting from a point approximately 25m north west of its junction with Harwich Road for a distance of approximately 20m in a north westerly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on January 22 for three days while supply replacement works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

Just over a week later, Sycamore Road will close from its junction with Hickory Avenue to its junction with Hawthorn Avenue.

The closure, set to begin on January 31, will last for three days while carriageway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

Garland Road will close on February 12 for three days.

The closure will be from a point approximately 25m south west of its junction with Crimea Walk for a distance of approximately 20m in a south westerly direction.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pipe repair works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

As well as day closures, two roads are set for overnight closures.

Firstly, Colne Bank Avenue is set to shut from its junction with Cymbeline Way to its junctions with Colne Bank Avenue Roundabout.

The closure will be from January 26 for one night from 8pm to 5am while carriageway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

Three days later on January 29, St Botolphs Church Walk will be closing from a point approximately 25m east of its junction with St Botolphs Street for a distance of approximately 20m in a south easterly direction.

It will close for one night from 11pm to 5am while chamber cover replacement works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

The following month, Braiswick is due to close from its junction with Warwick Bailey Close for a distance of approximately 1190m in a north westerly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on February 16 for one night from 7.30pm and 5am.

It is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

In Braintree, two roads are set to shut on the same day, one of which is for nearly two weeks.

Church Street will be closing from its junction with Broad Road to its junction with Ashpole Road.

The closure is scheduled to commence on February 12 for 12 days while overhead cabling works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

Later on, Bocking End will shut from its junction with Rayne Road for a distance of approximately 40m in a north easterly direction.

The closure is scheduled for two nights from 7pm to 6am while fire hydrant replacement works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

In Halstead, Colne Road and Pretoria Road are shutting.

Colne Road will close from its junction with Blois Hall Gardens for a distance of approximately 50m in a south easterly direction.

Pretoria Road is set to shut from its junction with Colne Road for a distance of approximately 15m in a south westerly direction.

The closures are as scheduled to commence on February 13 for 3 days while sluice valve repair works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

In Maldon, Market Hill will be shutting overnight on February 15 from 8pm to 11pm.

It will shut from its junction with High Street to its junction with Bull Lane while manhole cover repair works are undertaken by Anglian Water.
