The first two charges relate to an allegation Searl burgled a beach hut in Wrabness and stole two Calor gas bottles.

He is also accused of burgling a house in St Michael’s Road, Harwich, and taking keys to a Ford Fiesta before stealing the car from the address.

Further charges relate to accusations Searl stole a Volkswagen Polo from an address in Harwich, burgled an address in Dedham, and stole a Volkswagen Golf and Honda Civic.

Searl denies all the charges.

Faith Moxam, of Main Road, Harwich, meanwhile, faces four charges – one of burgling an address in Wrabness, one of burgling an address in Dedham, and two counts of stealing a motor vehicle.

The 19-year-old did not enter a plea to any of the charges.

Harry Davis, of Mayflower Avenue, Harwich, faces six charges.

The 19-year-old, who was dressed in a suit and tie, did not enter a plea for any of the accusations which involved three counts of theft and three counts of burglary.

The court legal advisor told chair of the bench magistrates did not have the jurisdiction to try the three defendants, and all three will have to attend a trial in Chelmsford.

She said: “This is not suitable for a summary trial.

“There is a spree of offences and there is some degree of planning, so they fall out of your jurisdiction.”

Searl, Davis, and Moxam will appear before Chelmsford Crown Court on Tuesday, February 13 for a pre-trial preparation hearing.
