Essex Police arrested two men, aged 19 and 21, in the Greenstead area of the city on the evening of January 11 after a 16-year-old boy was left fighting for his life earlier in the week.

Police were called to the junction of Queen Street and Priory Street at about 6.30pm on Tuesday, January, 9 following reports of a boy being seriously assaulted. The victim was taken to hospital with stab wounds.

Thankfully, his condition is no longer life-threatening.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “Kaya Adu, 19, of Hereward Green, Loughton, and Rushi Jadeja, 21, of Pickford Walk, Colchester, have been charged with attempted murder.

“Adu also faces a charge of possession of a bladed article in a public place

“Both are due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court this morning.”

A 20-year-old man was initially arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He has since been released and will face no further action at this time.

Officers have maintained a continued presence in The Dell area, off Priory Street, as investigations continue.
