A STRING of well-known comedians are set to entertain audiences during two big events taking place at a Halstead venue.

The Empire Theatre, in Butler Road, will host two separate events featuring four well-known stand-up acts next month and in May.

Lloyd Griffith and Tony Law will headline the 300-seat venue's comedy club show on February 23 from 6.30pm, and Joe Thomas and Angelos Epithemiou will lead the line-up on May 31.

Lloyd Griffith is a comedian, actor, television personality and singer, and widely recognised as an ex-presenter of Sky Sports show Soccer AM.

He will be joined by Canadian surrealist and storyteller Tony Law, who has appeared on television shows such as BBC One’s Have I Got News For You, and won numerous comedy awards.

The headline acts will be supported by rising acts Tasha Cluskey and Martin Westgate.

Many UK comedy lovers will know the top billed comedians for the May event.

Actor and comedian Joe Thomas has appeared in many notable comedies across the years such a Fresh Meat, Netflix’s White Gold and is best known for playing Simon in The Inbetweeners series and films.

Joining Joe is the amusingly peculiar comic Angelos Epithemiou, a character created by performer Dan Renton Skinner.

Angelos has appeared in a Channel Four show about himself, the Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer-led Shooting Stars, and Come Dine With Me, to name just a few.

Kevin Daniel and Ross McGrane will provide support on the night.

Tickets cost £20 each and doors open at 6.30pm with the entertainment starting at 8pm.

The two exciting comedy night announcements come after the Empire Theatre gained a new chairman, Jo Collis, at the start of January.

Jo, 43, has officially stepped into the role after taking it on from predecessor Mike George, who decided to step down in October 2023.

Moving forward, Jo has promised to turn the venue into a “community hub”.

More comedy nights are to be announced but nothing can be revealed yet until the acts are finalised.
