CONTROVERSIAL plans to build 80 homes in Wivenhoe have been given the green light.
Housebuilding giant Taylor Wimpey has been given approval to build 80 homes on land behind Broadfields in Wivenhoe.
The housebuilder had originally sought to build 120 homes in the town but the plans were thrown out after campaigners argued against the scheme because some of the homes fell outside the area earmarked for development in the town’s neighbourhood plan.
The site spans more than 15 hectares, about the same as 21 Premier League football pitches.
