A CHRISTMAS window display branded a “massacre” is causing a stir in Colchester city centre.

A disturbed TikToker captured the “very graphic” festive arrangement at the Eyesaw gallery in Long Wyre Street.

In a video posted yesterday, TikTok user @its__me__innit__ shared her horror after spotting a Barbie doll proudly hanging its head out of a Range Rover window after crashing into and decapitating a reindeer.

She said: “This is one messed up Christmas display in Colchester. Seriously, it’s a massacre.

“I’m not sure if this is a shop window’s sense of humour or a display of mental health issues.”

@its__me__innit__ Oh my days! Chaotic Christmas window display in Colchester City Centre that I just had to share with the world. It’s literal carnage. Santas elf burnt alive. Barbie making roadkill of Rudolph. A grim reeper nativity scene. Gingerbread street brawl. I’ve never seen a display like this before. I boarder between laughing and questioning the window artists sanity. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻 #christmas #christmaswindowdisplay #christmasdisplay #nativityscene #naughtyelf #barbie #santa #colchester #eyesaw_nft #alt #altchristmas #fyp #controversial ♬ Christmas Is Coming - DM Production

The window display also features a “homeless looking” Father Christmas, Mary and Joseph with the Grim Reaper, and two naughty elves having a “fun time with Barbie”.

“I think it’s fair to say they’re not keen on Christmas, you know,” the TikToker added.

“I wonder how long this is going to be here until Colchester Council removes it, or is Colchester Council happy with it maybe?”

The window display was installed as part of the gallery’s opening on December 1.

A statement on its website says its self-described “bad taste Christmas window display” includes a “faceless Santa slumped in a chair, naughty elves running a mock in a room full of art, a tree decorated with hand grenades, Barbie in a Land Rover ploughing through a herd of reindeer, and a nativity scene that replaces baby Jesus for a pile of consumer goods”.

Eyesaw’s Christmas show runs until January 14 and is open between 10am and 5pm every weekend.

The gallery was approached for comment.
