A MAN from Essex has been branded a "very immature young man" as he was jailed for his role in supplying cocaine.

The court heard Aron Jones, of Gladden Fields, South Woodham Ferrers, was picked up by police in his car on November 29, 2021 in South Woodham Ferrers.

Officers found he had bloodshot eyes and he admitted to having consumed cannabis in his car.

A search of his car revealed scales, as well as two wraps of a substance, which was later identified as cocaine, and £120 in cash.

A mobile phone, which was found on Jones was examined and revealed messages concerning the sale of the cocaine, advertising the substance starting from November 10, 2021.

He admitted to the possession and intent to supply the class A drug at Colchester Magistrates Court on August 31.

Between the first hearing and the final sentencing, Jones was also found guilty of carrying a bladed article in 2022.

He was sentenced at Chelmsford Crown Court on December 18.

Since the charges were brought forward to the court 21 months after the committal of the crimes, recorder Richard Conley, reduced the sentence.

Yet, he highlighted Jones’ compliance with court and police orders had been “patchy”.

“He does not seem to have the right attitude”, said Mr Conley, including findings from a pre-sentence report indicating “dismissive” and “rude” behaviour.

“His attitude remains those of a very immature young man who seems unwilling to face the adult world and adult responsibilities.”

Jones was sentenced to 26 months in prison, of which half will be served in custody and the remainder as a suspended sentence, linked to conditions.

The phone, drugs and cash found on the day of his arrest will be forfeited.
