A PROFESSIONAL wrestling legend will soon be gracing the north Essex wrestling scene.
Harwich-based SOS Wrestling has announced veteran former WWE wrestler Gangrel, whose real name is David William Heath, will be holding a training seminar and taking part in an event.
He will be leading a seminar at Kingsway Hall on Saturday, December 16, at 11am.
The following day, Gangrel will be participating in SOS Wrestling’s ‘Season’s Beatings’ event at Charter Hall in Colchester.
The show will start at 3pm and will finish at around 6pm, with tickets costing £17.
Gangrel has worked for major wrestling companies such as World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE), All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and World Championship Wrestling (WCW).
In his career, Gangrel has stepped into the wrestling ring with big names such as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, The Undertaker, Christian Cage and Edge.
Paul Tyrell, head coach for SOS Wrestling, said: “I’ve known David for a long time - he’s worked in England for many years
"I used to work with him for a guy called Brian Dixon at All Star Wrestling.
"David was part of the Attitude Era, which was the best era in wrestling.”
Gangrel said: “When the Attitude Era ended for me, a door opened with All Star Wrestling and Brian Dixon.
"I spent years prior to the pandemic working in England. I consider this a home, I love to be here. I love it, the fans here are like no other fans. It's tremendous.”
Paul added: “We’ve got a fans meet and greet going on from 1.30pm - if people want autographs, pictures and to meet wrestlers including Gangrel.
“On the show, there’s seven matches including Gangrel in the main event. Red Eagle flying in from Portugal, the famous Knight Family from the movie Fighting with My Family.
“Absolutely stacked from top to bottom.
“We’ve sold over 400 tickets already, so it’s looking pretty good. They haven’t had wrestling in Charter Hall since before the pandemic.
"There’s been a few small shows but this is the first really big one.
“We’re packing Charter Hall on Saturday, April 14, for the follow-up show to this one.”
