COLCHESTER Council is shortlisted for two sought-after social media awards.

The council has announced its shortlisting for the Comms2Point0 UnAwards and is in the running to win the Best Social Media Account, and Best Comms Professional awards.

The UnAwards acknowledges and celebrates creativity, innovation, and results across the marketing, advertising and media sectors.

The Best Social Media Account category looks for ‘exceptional’ content that engages with the intended audience, where the Best Comms Professional champions an individual social media and content officer.

Colchester Council’s leader, councillor David King, is ecstatic about the nominations.

He said: "It's fantastic to be shortlisted for Best Social Media Account and Best Comms Professional against other leading local public sector organisations.

“I’m incredibly proud of this achievement and for the recognition that our employees deserve.

“We are setting a great example for others in local government, with social media presence that catches attention and informs.

“Showing we are a council that is open to different views, that informs, listens, and responds to our residents and has some great staff here to help get over what matters to the public we serve.”

The winners will be announced at the UnAwards ceremony on December 1 at The Everyman Cinema, in Birmingham.
