THE owner of a barber shop named the best in the city by Gazette readers says he is "honoured" to have been given the award.

Goodfellas, in Head Street, Colchester, was crowned with the Gazette's 'Your Favourite Barber Shop' 2023.

This award celebrates barber shops for their customer service and customer satisfaction as well as rewarding the very best barbers around the county.

Joe Goharrehman, the owner of Goodfellas, said: "We are deeply honoured to be recognised as your favourite barber shop, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you who took the time to cast your vote in our favour.

"Our journey began back in 2017, at 49 Head Street, and since then, we have been committed to providing the finest barbering services to our beloved community.

"To us, being named the people's favourite barber shop is not just an accolade; it's a testament to the trust and loyalty you have shown us over the years.

"This recognition means the world to us. We are not just happy; we are overwhelmed with joy. Your support and appreciation drive us to continuously improve and deliver the best experiences for our valued customers."

Goodfellas is known to cater towards all ages and make the barber experience as comfortable as possible for everyone.

Joe added: "Goodfellas Barbers is not just a favourite among the adults but also among the kids in our wonderful community.

"We understand that getting a haircut can sometimes be a little daunting for our younger customers. That's why we've created a special space just for them – a Lego section where they can have a blast while waiting for their turn."

The shop is the only Pakistani barbers in Colchester and Joe believes the award is thanks to his loyal customer base.

Joe said: "Thank you once again for your incredible support, and we can't wait to continue serving both kids and adults with the best barbershop experience in Colchester.

"Together, we have made Goodfellas Barbers your favourite, and together, we will continue to be the best in Colchester."

Other nominees were Masters & Misters in Clacton, Daves Barber Shop in Brightlingsea, Alfie Allen in Colchester and Manningtree Barber Shop in Manningtree.
