A FAULT at a substation in north Colchester left homes without power for more than two hours.
UK Power Networks says it became aware of an unplanned outage affecting homes in the CO4 5 postcode area, including parts of Mile End, Boxted, and Langham at 6.23am today.
It was caused by a fault with a piece of electrical equipment which controls the power to nearby properties, and power was restored just before 8.30am.
Colchester Hospital's microbiology lab in Turner Road lost power briefly before its energy supply switched to a generator. The main hospital building was unaffected.
