EXCITING details about what will be coming to transform Colchester’s former Debenhams have been revealed.

Blueprints showing how the site would be adapted were first revealed earlier by Flip Out earlier this year.

They will see the former retail site in Culver Square and Culver Street West undergo a radical transformation.

Now, the detailed layout of the new site has been revealed, which includes a range of exciting activities.

On the ground floor, there will be the already confirmed Boom Battle Bar, which typically includes a range of games such as augmented reality axe throwing and darts, shuffleboard and karaoke.

Also on the ground floor, will be the Putt Putt Noodle mini golf course, which will be split into three courses with the themes of Tokyo Drift, Dragon Quest and Zen Garden revealed for the first time.

Moving onto the first floor, this will feature an area for pool tables, as well as bowling, now revealed to be under the Quacabowlé branding, a Mexican-themed bowling alley featuring Mexican wrestling, street art and Day of the Dead style theming.

The huge go-karting track, which will be electric as opposed to traditional petrol karts, will also be on the first floor.

Lastly, on the second floor, there will be a further extensive range of games and fun.

This floor will treat visitors to bumper cars, a ninja playground and ninja tag area, and laser quest.

There will also be trampolines, an obstacle course, interactive football, roller rink, soft play and hoverboard arena.

The detailed plans have been submitted as part of revised plans for the whole site.

Previous plans would have seen trampolines installed on the first floor and the second level used for go-karting.

However, developers say following the green light from planning bosses in June, “further consideration was given to the design of the proposal”.

A planning statement continues: “In order to meet operational needs of the tenant, Flip Out, this necessitated moving the go-karting course from the second to the first floor.”

A non-material amendment was submitted. However, this was refused by Colchester Council, which said the amendments are considered “well beyond what can considered as an NMA”.

The new application seeks to re-locate the go-karting track.

The plans will now once again go through the planning process with Colchester Council having the final say.
