A DISGRUNTLED worker held a one-man protest outside his Colchester employer after claiming his work shifts were “withdrawn without explanation” and given to someone else.

Mark White has been left frustrated after Care Givers Direct, in George William Way, reportedly took away his contracted shifts. This has yet to be confirmed or denied by the company.

Care Givers Direct, also known as Caregivers Ltd, is a national provider of home care and staffing services, primarily based in Colchester.

Mr White, who is from Harwich, says he has been in dispute with the company for weeks over the alleged issue.

He said: “I have had no work whatsoever since September 6.

“Not only did the company fail to contact me for five weeks, despite me getting in touch, they still have not used my labour.”

Mr White says he was employed for two 12-hour shifts per week, which he is claiming were then suddenly “withdrawn without explanation”.

He also said his shifts were then given to someone else, again with “no explanation”.

“I have had no work whatsoever, since then," he told the Gazette.

“It is impossible to live on nothing.”

Mr White added he has been contacted since his protest, with the company getting in touch “after a period of two months”.

The frustrated worker claims he has received an email offering a face-to-face meeting.

“I will be looking forward to this as the company has a lot of explaining to do over this matter,” said Mr White.

“Two months is a long time to bury your head in the sand for.”

Care Givers Direct was contacted for comment but did not respond at the time of going to press.
