A NEW nightclub will open to punters in the city of Colchester tonight.

Trilogy, in Colchester High Street, is the newest addition to the city's night life scene, boasting four different rooms, each with a unique style and a capacity of 1350.

The Gazette was among those given exclusive access into the new club ahead of the opening.

Here is what you can expect from the establishment after its £600,000 revamp ahead of its opening weekend.

As you walk downstairs into the club you are welcomed into a fresh and floral themed room, suitably named Botanic, that offers plenty of cocktails and neon lights.

James McKeown, the owner of Trilogy, said he was hoping to modernise the building from what it once was and 'move on with the times'.

The previous club, Atik, opened up straight into the dance floor at the bottom of the stairs, however, there has been a new wall installed to break everything up.

A walk past the cloakroom, which costs £3 per item to store, leads you to the next room, dubbed The Arena.

The Arena is a huge dancefloor surrounded by booths and tables, with a huge disco ball sat in the centre of the ceiling, dazzling in the lights around the room.

Upstairs houses the Disco Disco room, which is decked out in mirrored walls and an amazing atmosphere.

James McKeon, the owner of Trilogy, said: “It's an exciting time for Colchester as we enter a new era for the City's late night scene.

“Trilogy Nightclub really has the wow factor and offers something for everyone.

“The showpiece of the venue has to be the 10ft screen we've added to The Arena which was inspired by venues such as Printworks.”

The quality of the sound and lighting equipment has been raised causing the music to sound clearer and lighter and the lights brighter and more colourful.

As all the rooms are separated there is something for everyone, whether that be a dancefloor to show off your best moves or a quieter booth to sit and drink at.

Trilogy opens at 9pm every weekend, and closes at 4am, with last entry at 1am.

Entry to the venue is free from 9pm until 10:30 pm for members of the guest list, which is available to join on Trilogy's website.

Afterwards it varies from £3 to £7, depending on what time you enter the club.
