A MAN has been arrested following an incident which led to the A12 to be closed for about seven hours.
Essex Police was called to reports of concerns for a man on a bridge over the road near to junction 26 at Stanway shortly after 11.15am today.
Officers attended and worked to resolve the situation as quickly and as safely as possible.

This meant the road had to be closed for the safety of all those involved, including road users.
The man was brought to safety at around 4.50pm and the road was fully re-opened a little while later.
A spokesman for the force confirmed a man in his 50s has been arrested on suspicion of intentionally and recklessly causing a public nuisance and is in custody.
