FOOD lovers of international dishes will soon have even more to choose from after the latest additions to the Northern Gateway development were confirmed.

Mexican restaurant El Guaca and buffet company Nines will move into the new £70 million site being built on the fringe of the city at junction 28 of the A12.

El Guaca has secured a 3,305 sq ft plot at the new retail centre and is no stranger to Colchester.

Previously located on High Street, the chain has restaurants in Maldon, Ely and Newmarket where delicious Mexican dishes are served.

It first opened in 2012 and is dedicated to serving authentic dishes with fresh produce.

Their menu includes all the classics from nachos, tortilla chips and paellas, to tacos and street food-like options.

The restaurants also serve a great range of highly praised alternative options for vegans and vegetarians

Nines, meanwhile, offers more international dishes.

The buffet operator will move into a space measuring more than 3,500 sq ft at Northern Gateway and serve more than 100 dishes from cuisines around the world.

Their branches in Cambridge and Swansea have been highly popular and Nines will only add to Colchester’s diverse food profile.

The chefs at Nines can be watched preparing the dishes at the live cooking stations, ensuring all dishes are made fresh.

Nines for many will be the perfect spot for those who cannot decide on what to eat, given their great range of dishes will leave no one hungry.

According to the restaurant's website, their meals will see guests “take a journey through the flavours of the world."

Everything from Japanese hot plate teppanyaki, sushi, pasta and pizza and paella to BBQ items and seafood feature on the menu.

Anyone looking for a deal should keep an eye on the eatery, as their other branches have different offers like a free birthday meal and student discounts.
