A NON-PROFIT production company based in the city has been awarded £9,000 and it will be used to fund their new teen drama.

Underdog Crew Studios is a community organisation that has received funding from the Anglian Community Trust.

The money is being used to fund Underdog Crew Studios’ new show, The Slip.

The Slip is a teen drama inspired by Byker Grove, however the show will focus more on the mental health issues faced by young people in the UK today.

The television series has been filmed across various locations around Colchester over the last several weeks and it features many young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in front of and behind the camera.

The Underdog Studios’ Creative Director, DB Morgan, spoke about working with the young crew involved on The Slip.

He said “I’ve felt so humbled and moved while working with these young people, who reveal their true talents once you give them a chance.

“Many have no confidence when they first step through the door. After our team shows them how to use the camera equipment and give them the opportunity to take some shots themselves, they demonstrate what they are capable of.

“It’s an honour to give them an opportunity to shine and show them the magic of filmmaking” he added.
