Colchester's alternative scene is not short of events this weekend, including on Friday night. 

Here are some of the most notable events listed: 

Facedown - Coda

The returning popular night of metal, emo, rock and alternative music prepares to strike back for another night of tunes at one of Colchester's most popular alternative venues.

On Friday, you can enjoy both live music from Y!kes, an alternative rock and from Birmingham, and three jagerbombs for £10.

Entry is free and the event runs from 9pm until 3am. 

Creatures of the Night - Queen St. Brewhouse

Continuing the usual monthly tradition, the iconic Creatures of the Night event will be returning to Queen St. Brewhouse this Friday.

The night is full of goth, rock and metal music with the usual duo DJ Rainman and DJ Gentleman Jim. 

The night starts at 7pm and ends late with free entry.

Green Day Tribute - Three Wise Monkeys 

On Saturday night one of the greatest Green Day tribute bands will be gracing the stage at Three Wise Monkeys.

Dookie will be playing hits from every generation of Green Day's pop punk legacy. 

Popular DJ Matt Huffle will also be playing on the night, playing music from Blink-182, Paramore, Mayday Parade and much more.

Doors open at 8pm and the band will be on late.

Live/Wire - Colchester Arts Centre

The AC/DC tribute band will be rocking up to the stage at one of Colchester's most popular live music venues. 

With over 20 years of touring experience, the band will be playing all the famous songs from TNT, Highway to Hell and Back in Black. 

Doors open at 7.30pm and tickets are £20.
