HOMES in two Essex postcode areas have been left without power this afternoon after unplanned power cuts hit.
UK Power Networks confirmed it is aware of two outages.
Sible Hedingham power cut
A power cut affecting the CO9 3 postcode area, which includes Sible Hedingham and Castle Hedingham, was reported just before 3pm.
It is believed to be the result of a fault to a piece of UK Power Networks’ electrical equipment.
A statement on its website says: “We have engineers on their way. As this is affecting your area, they will not need to attend your property. Rest assured once they arrive, they’ll work as quickly as is safely possible to get your power back on.”
It is estimated the power will be switched back on between 7pm and 8pm today.
Greenstead power cut
Emergency repairs have also caused an unplanned power cut in the CO4 3 postcode area, which includes parts of Greenstead and the Essex University campus.
UK Power Networks confirmed engineers are on site investigating the fault.
It is estimated the power will be switched on by 4.30pm today.
