A DRIVER has spoken of his shock after capturing a motorist heading the wrong way down an A12 slip road near Colchester.

Dills_Dashcam, as he is known on TikTok, regularly shares videos of motorists making crazy manoeuvres or other silly moments on the roads.

In his latest video, which has about 150,000 views, a confused motorist is seen driving down the A12 slip road at Marks Tey on the Colchester-bound carriageway.

They are then confronted by oncoming traffic before being forced to turn around.

Speaking to the Gazette about the incident, which happened last week, the social media star said: “I couldn't believe it.

“I was just coming off at the slip as normal when I saw the car in front of me braking.

“I am in a higher vehicle so saw the van coming on and at that point, I positioned to the right to stop them coming down any further in case they decided to remain committed.

“I was so confused, as are the people who have watched the video. How have they done that?

“Unless they have made a handbrake turn or something, it is a 90 degree bend at the roundabout and is practically impossible to get it wrong and make that error.

“It could’ve easily been a fatal incident on another day, and I am obviously glad no one got hurt and hope the driver learns from it.”

The latest A12 incident comes after a red Toyota was recently seen driving the wrong way on the same road towards Colchester.

The driver behind Dills_Dashcam says he regularly witnesses crazy moments on the road - so much so he has now said he is becoming desensitised to driving errors.

His previous clips include a video of crazy driver attempting to separate traffic cones to skip queueing cars.

The social media motorist's cheeky overtake of more than 50 cars on the A12 at the site of the ongoing roadworks near Stanway also previously caused a stir.

His TikTok account has more than 4,000 followers and has amassed more than 430,000 likes and millions of views.

“Nowadays I just think yep, that’s another clip going online”, he added.

“I see this driving on a day-to-day basis and upload all sorts, from silly to serious.

“I think people enjoy it because it is so relatable, they enjoy watching the crazy moments and imagining if they saw something similar.”
