FAULTY traffic lights are believed to be responsible for causing rush hour chaos on a busy Colchester road.
Temporary traffic lights appeared after the Rovers Tye roundabout in Ipswich Road last week after electricity work commenced.
Frustrated commuters faced significant delays this morning after the lights became stuck permanently on red.
Motorists told the Gazette traffic was at a standstill, with some saying they also got stuck in traffic in the area yesterday evening.
AA Roadwatch reported long queues heading south on Ipswich Road, with congestion back to junction 29 of the A12 (the Crown interchange). Traffic was also heavy heading north, with queues past Upland Drive.
Essex Highways said an inspector has visited and the lights are now operational.
