A POPULAR business that has been creating jams and spreads for decades was featured on national television.

The Tiptree Wilkin and Sons site was visited by presenter Andi Peters and an ITV team on Wednesday.

Andi hosted live segments for Good Morning Britain and Lorraine, where he promoted their competition from various locations on the farm, factory and tea room.

A spokesman for Wilkin and Sons said: “The ITV team arrived at sunrise to film with Andrey Ivanov in the strawberry fields. Picking and eating the berries proved to be very popular.

“As they followed the fruit from the farm into the factory, Andi had a chance to talk to Tracy Warren and Mark Smith and see the strawberries being checked by hand for jam-making.

“Andi even caught a glimpse of the team separating the orange peel and pulp for one of the marmalades.

“Andi then chatted to Scott Goodfellow in the sunny secret garden of the Tiptree Tea Room, and enjoyed a homemade scone with Little Scarlet strawberry jam.

“Andi took hampers filled with jam, marmalade and ketchup back for the ITV presenters to enjoy the following day.”

The episode is available to watch on catch-up at ITVX.
