"As a well-established, high-quality, family-run retailer, they will offer a useful and appealing additional service to customers at Stane Retail Park, and we look forward to seeing them open during the autumn."

But what exactly is Pets Corner?

Here is what you need to know about the business and what you can expect when it opens.

Pets Corner is family-run a retail chain which specialises in the sale of ethical pet care products and the provision of pet care services.

In April 1968, spurred by their shared love of animals and with a farming background, Mark and Sandra Richmond opened a small family pet shop in Haywards Heath, Sussex.

As the Richmond family grew, so did their menagerie of animals and pets. Their business grew too, which meant a move to a bigger store.

More than just a local pet shop, Pets Corner had firmly positioned itself as a respected hub in the community, offering advice on pet care and nutrition.

In 1983, a second store opened in Hove, with pet pioneers Mark and Sandra now also selling a small range of supplements and healthcare remedies for pets.

In 1992, the brand’s third shop in Brighton opened, followed by a fourth in Crawley two years later.

The brand has continued to grow, and in 2016 teamed up with Pampurred Pets, with Pets Corner acquiring 51 stores, making it the second largest chain of pet stores in the country.

The stores offer various natural pet foods, accessories, and treatments, primarily for dogs and cats, but also for other small animals such as reptiles, birds, wildlife, and fish.

It already has shops across Essex, in Braintree, Chelmsford and Billericay.

Pets Corner is set to open at Stane Park in the autumn.
