MAGISTRATES courts deal with all kinds of offences throughout the week.

And one of their most commonly used powers is taking motorists off the road for crimes committed while driving.

Here is a round-up of some of those who have been banned from driving after being caught offending behind the wheel.

Charlie Garnish, 30, was caught driving a Ford Fiesta without insurance on September 12 last year. The offence took place at 9.50am in Sheepen Road, Colchester.

It was proved via the single justice procedure at Colchester Magistrates’ Court.

Garnish, of Damson Close, Tiptree, was disqualified from driving for nine months and will have to resit his driving test following this period.

The “repeat offender” was ordered to pay £1,014 in a fine, surcharge and costs to the court.

Drew Henneby, 30, was caught driving a Ford Focus without insurance on September 9 last year. The offence took place at 11.54am in Glen Avenue, Colchester.

Henneby, of De Grey Road, Colchester, was also driving alone without L plates despite only possessing a provisional driving licence.

The offences were proved via the single justice procedure at Colchester Magistrates’ Court.

Henneby was disqualified from driving for nine months and ordered to pay £1,322 in a fine, surcharge and costs to the court.

Paul Mooney, 43, was snapped speeding in Cowdray Avenue, Colchester, by a speed camera on September 9 last year.

He was driving a Mercedes at 8.11pm when he was caught driving at 55mph in the 40mph speed limit.

The offence was proved via the single justice procedure at Colchester Magistrates’ Court.

Mooney, of Bergholt Road, Colchester, was disqualified from driving for six months and will have to resit his driving test following this period.

He was ordered to pay £276 in a fine, surcharge and costs to the court.

Colin Dyer, 50, failed to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a BMW on November 25 last year.

He was asked to do so in Billericay by an Essex Police officer.

The offence was proved via the single justice procedure at Colchester Magistrates’ Court.

Dyer, of Ashwin Avenue, Copford, was disqualified from driving for six months and will have to resit his driving test following this period.

He was ordered to pay £1,014 in a fine, surcharge and costs to the court.
