TWO teenagers have been arrested after a “terrifying” aggravated burglary saw knife-wielding robbers force their way into a home.

Essex Police was called to a house in Charles Pell Road, Greenstead, Colchester, just before 10.45pm on Sunday.

Officers arrived at the address within ten minutes and detained two suspects outside the property, and seized a bag of cannabis.

Ch Insp Colin Cox, Colchester district commander, said: “Although this was clearly a terrifying incident for those targeted, we believe this was an isolated matter and there is no wider threat to residents in the area.

“It is thanks to the good work of our call handlers within the force control room, who were able to keep the caller calm and get the information needed to allow our officers to respond within moments, that we were able to deal with this incident so quickly.

“My teams in Colchester take any incidents of this nature extremely seriously. Our proactive work to keep dangerous drugs off the streets and to catch offenders continues.”

A 17-year-old boy, of Barking, London, and a 15-year-old boy, of Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, remain in custody.
