A CARE provider where staff were described as having “a genuine interest and warmth” when interacting with residents has been praised by healthcare officials in a new inspection report.
Colchester Home Care, which looks after six people within their own homes, was visited by the health inspectorate, the Care Quality Commission, at the beginning of last month with the findings then published two weeks later.
The service was judged to be safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well led, with inspectors from the CQC giving special mention to staff described as “kind and compassionate.”
One section of the report read: “The service was responsive and flexible, adapting to people's changing needs.
“Staff understood people's communication needs, so information was shared in an accessible way.
“The provider responded openly to complaints, using the information to drive improvement.”
The 15-page report included information on how there are safe systems in place to ensure users of the service take their correct medication on a regular basis, with all medication administration records held electronically.
A relative of one user of the service praised the service, saying: “You can't beat the staff – the care is second to none.”
Staff also gave positive accounts to inspectors about working at the service, with the training described as “excellent” and another saying they feel supported and valued by their colleagues and managers.
The registered manager of Colchester Home Care, Sharon Cutter, said she was proud of the staff who had managed to a high level of care to those who are vulnerable.
She said: “We secured these ratings because of consistent good practice, focusing on person-centred care, and placing the wellbeing of each client at the heart of everything we do and every decision we make.
“We always welcome such rigorous CQC inspections and clear ratings so clients and families can see which care works best.
“Overall, I’m proud of all carers who get up each morning to provide care to our vulnerable people in the community; we aim to continue building our services to provide consistent, dignified and reliable care services in north Essex and Tendring.”
