WE have created a list of the best youth clubs in Colchester to celebrate International Youth Day which is marked this weekend.  

International Youth Day is held each year on August 12 and is an initiative which celebrates the qualities of young people and recognises the challenges that today’s youth can face.

International Youth Day began in the year 2000 and was organised by the United Nations to celebrate the contribution that young people make to education, employment, and many more. 

Here's the list of some of the best youth clubs in Colchester to visit today or during the summer.

Youth Holiday Club Colchester

The Youth Holiday Club delivers 'inclusive' fun activities for young people aged five to 18 years, who may need some additional support.

In partnership with Active Essex, Essex County Council and the Department of Education, the Youth Holiday Club delivers supported activities for young people in small groups who may need some additional support during the holidays.

Disability4Sport will offer a range of physical and enrichment activities for young people, offering Something4Everyone and ensuring young people have a fun, memorable and healthy break.

Colchester and District Youth Football League

The Colchester and District Youth Football League offers young footballers throughout north Essex and the surrounding areas the opportunity to play regular, competitive football in order to develop both their footballing talent and build friendships on a weekly basis.

With almost forty different divisions spanning across eleven age groups, youngsters from the ages of six to eighteen can join one of the many clubs that compete within them, playing matches each weekend and competing in the league's various cup competitions.

Kingsland Church Colchester

For youngsters between years 9 and 13 at school or college Kingsland youth ministry Tuesday meet-ups at the church, to talk about life, how faith affects things and prayer sessions.

These nights are really for those that want to take their faith seriously and learn more, pray and have a place to talk about whatever is happening and get God's perspective on it.

Friday nights from 7.30pm – 9pm is the CO3 cafe night. With a chance to chat, games and activities and discussions. CO3 is a chilled place to be on Fridays. 

The club is involved in Youth Church once a month on Sunday at 11am.

Some members are a part of Kingsland Youth Generation which is a performing arts programme that meets on Saturday mornings. 

The club offers trips, sleepovers, Play Station nights and some summer Christian festivals.

Rowhedge Youth Club

Rowhedge Youth Club offers to bring the community together and to engage with young people aged 11-16 to create a safe and welcoming space. 

The group offers a lot of activities, pizza nights and fun game sessions.

Colchester Villa Youth Football Club

Villa Youth Club is an England Football Accredited youth football club providing football in the community for boys and girls of all ages.

They provide football sessions for all primary and secondary school ages.

The teams compete against other local clubs in Colchester and the surrounding areas.

The club was formed in 1975 and has been growing ever since, with 26 teams competing in the 2022/23 season.

Their Mini-Soccer, 9-a-Side and 11-a-Side teams participate in the Colchester and District Youth League and are affiliated with the Essex County FA.
