A HOUSING developer has been given the green light to construct 17 homes in a village near Colchester.
Colchester Council has approved proposals for the homes, which includes five affordable homes, to be built off Plummers Road, Fordham.
The housebuilder estimates it could increase the village’s population by as many as 99 residents.
Previous objections from neighbours raised concerns the extra houses could increase the amount of traffic in the village and turn roads which connect to the A12 into “rat runs”.
Essex County Council, Fordham Parish Council, Anglian Water, an ecological advice service, and the emergency services were consulted.
