A CITY centre music stalwart has been left "completely overwhelmed" after two chart-topping artists performed at his venue on the same evening.

The Lottery Winners and Frank Turner recently graced the stage of Three Wise Monkeys, in High Street, Colchester.

The indie-rock group, who have 300,000 monthly Spotify listeners, headlined the show, with Frank Turner joining the band onstage for a guest performance.

Throughout the night The Lottery Winners performed fan favourites alongside songs from their third and latest studio album, Anxiety Replacement Therapy.

The UK Number 1 album also features collaborations with Shaun Ryder and Boy George, as well as Frank Turner, who himself also has a Number 1 album to his name.

Alan Jones, the events manager of the venue, said: “This show was absolutely insane and the energy in the venue was off the charts – it was a show we will not be forgetting anytime soon.

“The Lottery Winners completely blew us away and to then have Frank Turner take to the stage with them was simply fantastic and a real dream."

“I want to express my gratitude to all the incredible staff on the night who worked tirelessly behind the scenes at TWM to make this night happen."

“Without their dedication and hard work, none of this would have been possible.”

The venue's most recent success comes after rockstars of the future battled it out during a “mind-blowing” and “unforgettable” music competition.

Frank Turner also previously performed a sold-out headline concert on the top floor of the established city centre bar.

“Since taking over the reins of Three Wise Monkeys’ top floor venue I have been left completely overwhelmed by how amazing the gig-goers of Colchester have been and how receptive they have been of the shows we have been putting on here," added Alan, who also runs Black Cactus Studio.

“We have already staged so many awesome gigs since our recent renovation and both the crowds and the artists seem to be loving the vibe of our new-look venue – to have two artists who have achieved Number 1 albums and to have such success in the music industry perform here is testament to that.

“Keep spreading the love of live music everyone.”
