THE case of a Colchester man accused of a string of sex offences involving young girls has been officially closed following his death.
Sidney Freeman, 90, of Rogation Close, Stanway, was charged with 15 offences dating back to 1979.
The offences involved four alleged victims, including two schoolgirls, and included attempted rape, seven offences of indecent assault and seven offences of sexual assault.
Ipswich Crown Court heard in May Freeman had died in hospital and on Thursday Judge David Pugh officially closed the case after the prosecution produced a death certificate.
