A MAN has died following a serious crash which saw a car leave the road in south Essex road last night.

Emergency services were called to reports of a collision involving a grey Suzuki Swift on the A13 at about 8.25pm on Thursday evening.

Essex Police has confirmed a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in the car, also in their 30s, was taken to hospital with “life-threatening” injuries.

The crash happened just past the Orsett Cock London-bound carriageway.

An Essex Police spokesperson said: “One man has died, and another has been seriously injured following a collision on the A13 in Thurrock.

“We were called to reports of a grey Suzuki Swift had left the road on the London-bound carriageway just past Orsett Cock at 8.25pm yesterday [July 20].

“Sadly, the driver – a man in his 30s – was pronounced dead at the scene.

“A passenger in the car, who is also a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital with injuries, which have been described as life-threatening.

“The road was closed while our officers investigated and was re-opened at 2.15am today [July 21].”
