A SPEEDING driver who lost control while trying to fasten her seatbelt crashed into a parked vehicle and injured herself, a court heard.

Jordan Freer, 29, was driving an Audi A5 in Holloway Road, Heybridge, on December 9 last year when she crashed the vehicle.

Southend Magistrates’ Court heard at about 9.40pm Freer was exceeding the speed limit before she lost control while trying to apply her seatbelt.

Distracted, she crashed into a parked car, pushing it into another car. The smash resulted in damage to all three vehicles involved.

The court was told a neighbouring brick wall was also damaged during the incident as a result of the cars being pushed into it.

Freer and a passenger in the Audi were both injured during the crash but there injuries are not thought to be serious.

The defendant, of Mersea Road, Colchester, admitted driving without due care and attention when she appeared before the court.

The magistrates decided to endorse her driving licence with three points during the hearing.

Freer was fined £68 and ordered to pay a £32 surcharge to fund victim services.
